The purpose of this class is to maintain an accurate record of court proceedings.
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Maintains an accurate record of all trial proceedings and hearings; compiles trial and hearing worksheets.
Prepares and complies with deadlines for all Appellate Records; proofreads, corrects and indexes records.
Prepares and complies with deadlines for all requested transcript of hearings, pleas, expert witness testimony, and exhibits; proofreads, corrects and indexes transcripts; makes copies of all exhibits.
Reads back requested testimony during court.
Logs and files exhibits with the Clerk of Court.
Schedules juvenile respondents on the court docket.
Reconciles daily court activity and decision of court hearings.
Maintains and updates computer data and software.
Maintains records according to retention guidelines.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires Associate degree or two years of court reporting experience.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
The work is typically performed in an office.
