Description
The Facilities Director is responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the activities and operations of all of the McKenzie County buildings; including grounds maintenance, facility constructions, and facility repair or renovation. This position is located in Watford City, ND and scheduled for Monday – Friday, and reports directly to the Board of County Commissioners.
Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Directs all planning, program development, budget development and control, employee training and development, procedure and policy development for consideration of the Board of County Commissioners and provides direction and leadership for the Department
- Directs the formulation and administration of Department goals and objectives consistent with the overall County plans. Establishes and implements Department policies and procedures involving all operations to support goals and objectives, to address the Department’s overall efficiency and effectiveness and to maintain all operations incompliance with Federal, State, and other regulations, guidelines, standards, etc.
- Directs and manages the activities of the Building & Grounds Department internally and with other Departments and municipalities
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with McKenzie County elected officials, Department Heads, other local governmental managers and officials, and the public at large
- Identify and prioritize project needs, establish project completion time-lines, and provides direction for the use of available staff on maintenance and development of all McKenzie County buildings
- Confer with and make recommendations to contractors, architects, engineers, developers, consultants, and the general public
- Procures and maintains security systems including cameras, keycard entry systems, locks, fire safety systems, etc.
- Understands and complies with all law enforcement and DOC regulations in regards to buildings and security, ensuring yearly inspections are successful
- Arranges any additional needs for buildings and common areas for disease prevention
- Other duties as assigned for business needs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction or related field
- 10 years’ experience in high level management in a related position
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient with MS Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to report to Watford City, ND daily at required schedule time
- Physical requirements and working conditions:
- Able to handle exposure to noise and extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively
