Major Functions
Highly responsible professional work within Court Administration supervising Court Services Officers in the Pretrial Services - Assessment, Supervision, and Urinalysis Lab (training, evaluation, quality control, work review).
Illustrative Duties

- This position maintains an active client caseload, works in the UA Lab along with the staff being supervised, and occasionally works after hours monitoring defendants placed on GPS.
- Assists the Court Services Manager in administrative functions as assigned.
- Prepares administrative and statistical reports as directed.
- This position will have extensive phone and in-person contact with the public as well as other government agencies.
- Resolves operational problems and providing administration interpretations of standard protocols.
- Develops operational policies and procedures; researching programs, technologies and policies; and monitoring budgets.
- Assists in administrative functions as assigned.
- Prepares administrative and statistical reports as directed.
- May prepare grant applications and monitor compliance.
- Performs work of lower level Court Services Officer, which may include maintaining an active client caseload.
- May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The position is headquartered in DeLand; however, headquarters are subject to change based upon the needs of the Court.
**Office hours are subject to alteration as assignments within the department change. These hours may include periodic weekends and holidays.
Minimum Requirements
Seven (7) years of experience in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social Science or related field.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social Science or related field, and three (3) years related experience.
A comparable amount of education, training and experience may substitute for the minimum experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license at time of hire.
Must pass FDLE state certifications and NCIC/FCIC requirements. Must have no felony convictions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of penal rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of jail booking procedures.
- Knowledge of court procedures and court scheduling.
- Knowledge of laws and procedures relating to maintenance of confidential court records.
- Knowledge of applicable state statutes, rules, regulations, laws and ordinances.
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
- Ability to become familiar with criminal justice agencies and applicable community resources.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with these agencies.
- Ability to learn and operate various criminal justice information systems.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, government officials and the public.
- Ability to use standard office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, automated environment with many interruptions.
- Ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications and utilize in-house programs.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals.

Ada Requirements
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and professional manuals, documents, abstracts, procedures and policies; legal documents, memos, letters and summaries. Ability to perform general mathematical functions. Ability to speak clearly and concisely, relaying technical information, data and details to layman. Ability to write complex reports relaying information.
Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary work requiring sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing. Ability to move about an office. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement. Ability to speak and hear. Visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Finger dexterity.
