- FULL SALARY RANGE $48,635 - $67,095 : ACTUAL STARTING WAGE DOQ*
Preference will be given to candidates who already hold Code Enforcement certification and have experience
Summary Of Classification
Under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Development, this position is responsible for the enforcement of all City of Azle ordinances as assigned.
Budgetary Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of department work programs and policies, cost estimates, planning and budget requests.
Essential Job Duties
Assures compliance with various City of Azle ordinances/inspects for violations; (i.e.- substandard structures); issues citations, executes warrants, testifies in court, tracks each violation through abatement and issues abatement notices, and enters and maintains records for historical information. Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Communicates effectively and courteously with the general public, other employees, other departments, appointed and elected officials, in person, in writing and by telephone.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Must be able to read and interpret laws and ordinances, possess strong written and verbal skills, be familiar with corporation court procedures and be able to testify effectively in court. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and data management software. Must have working knowledge of photography.
Must possess the ability to present information about storm water and recycling issues to large groups of varying age groups.
Must possess knowledge of the EPA, and TCEQ; knowledge of the Azle storm water program is helpful.
Minimum Education, Experience And Certification
High School diploma or equivalent; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving familiarity with building trades and state and local codes; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have Valid Texas Drivers License, and must obtain Code Enforcement Certification within 6 mos. following one (1) year of employment.
