The Transportation, Engineering and Development Department (TED) at the City of Naperville is looking for a Building Inspector to conduct in-field inspections for residential and commercial construction. This Inspector will enforce compliance with adopted building codes, local amendments and ordinances.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $29.22 - $36.91 per hour, commensurate with experience. The Pay Grade for this position is N10. For additional information, please click here.
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the functionality of the software platforms used for permit and inspection management.
- Performs inspections of commercial and residential buildings to ensure compliance with the City’s adopted building codes and ordinances.
- Informs CBO, Code Official or TED Field Projects Supervisor of inspection activities and issues in the field.
- Responds to emergency callouts after regular working hours, if needed.
- Maintains inspection logs, records and files.
- Cross trains with current TED-Building Inspectors.
- Attend training and continuing education events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Credentials and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience in construction, inspection, plan review or related field required
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
Preferred Credentials and Experience- ICC Residential Building Inspector Certification
- ICC Commercial Building Inspector Certification
