The Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) is recruiting for multiple positions for Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Technicians III (WW O&M Tech III). This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of vital facilities. Your knowledge, experience, and certification levels are instrumental in the effective functioning of the County’s wastewater treatment facilities. WW O&M Tech III, duties and skill levels are greater than other WW O&M Techs in that they provide advanced troubleshooting, leadership, and training to other operational staff. WW O&M Tech III uses advanced operating principles of facility Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and computerized maintenance management systems and is required to assist in performing some duties of O&M Supervisors, especially in preparation to advance to a WW O&M Supervisor. WW O&M Tech III must maintain a valid ADEQ Grade 3 (or higher) Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification. The WW O&M III is responsible for safely operating and monitoring selected equipment involved in the treatment, processing, and resource reclamation of wastewater and biosolids. Ensures the continuity of wastewater treatment operations by performing preventive maintenance and adjustments to equipment and systems including pumps, motors, blowers, chemical feed equipment, sludge equipment, and basic laboratory equipment. Additional responsibilities of this position include collecting and analyzing wastewater samples and recording data relating to the operation and maintenance of equipment and treatment processes. Work assignments, shifts and locations will vary depending on the Department's needs and will be communicated to the incumbent by the Supervisor/Treatment Management.

O&M Technician III is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities of the O&M Technician - Level I and Level II;

Follows all safety procedures including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) and confined space procedures;

Operates and trains staff on new and advanced wastewater and solids treatment processing equipment and systems;
-
Uses advanced operating principles of facility Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and computerized maintenance management systems;
-
Uses intermediate-level algebra and other mathematical calculations;
-
Collects and analyzes wastewater samples in field and laboratory settings, and reports results;

Interprets readings on metering/process control devices and testing/analysis results, and adjusts equipment and machinery operations as necessary;

Evaluates, troubleshoot, and adjust all equipment and processes involved in the treatment and processing of wastewater and its byproducts, including solids, gas, service water ,and side streams;

Makes process control recommendations to the Supervisor and/or management team based on field observations and laboratory results;

Prepares for and responds to process and equipment changes when placing equipment into or out of service, hydraulic loading events, and other plant emergencies;

Assists with data table/spreadsheet creation &/or modification;

Assists in performing most duties of O&M Supervisors including conducting tours of facilities;

Assist in generating daily, weekly,y and monthly plant highlight reports or other reports to management;

Performs QA/QC on lab processes and data;

Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency, a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 3 (or higher) Wastewater Treatment System Operator certification, AND at least 3 years of experience in the operation of an advanced, complex wastewater/water facility or related industry/facility with at least 2 years as an operator at a Grade 3 or 4 wastewater facility (Section R18-5-114).

Minimum three (3) years experience performing preventative maintenance at a waste/wastewater or similar process.

Additional ADEQ certification/s (collections/water treatment/water distribution).

Minimum three (3) years experience with Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or comparable system control operation software.

Minimum two (2) years as an O&M Technician with Pima County Wastewater Reclamation Department.

Minimum two (2) years experience assisting with facility on-the-job training (OJT).
Pay Range:
Hiring Range: $25.12 - $30.14 Per Hour
Full Range: $25.12 - $35.17 Per Hour
Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.
