The IT Security Technician will assist with all security related functions including design, specifications, configurations, installations, and maintenance of local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services; purchasing and maintaining equipment inventory; user setup, maintenance, and training; and resolving operational issues. Specialized technology related security functions such as account creation, maintenance, and auditing, vulnerability assessment and remediation, preparation and maintenance of disaster recovery and backup systems, security audit preparation and reporting, malware detection and remediation, and security intelligence and event management.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and operation of various software programs
- Establishing and maintaining network users, user environment, directories, and security
- Install necessary servers
- Create redundant/failover systems
- Maintain proper environment
- Constant monitoring of hardware to ensure zero downtime and prevent equipment failure
- Review and report issues of concern from external security threat notifications sources
- Audit and remediation of systems and account security functions and components
- Security intelligence event monitoring and management functions
- Malware scanning and remediation
- Vulnerability scanning and assessment
- Security audit review and preparation
- Suspicious email review and remediation

Qualifications
• Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required. • Over one year of related experience required • Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator’s Class C license • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
