Position: Middle School Literacy Coach
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Middle School Literacy Coach to support and enhance literacy instruction across our middle school classrooms. Responsibilities include:
-Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement effective literacy instruction strategies.
-Providing coaching, modeling, and professional development in best practices for literacy instruction.
-Analyzing student performance data to inform instruction and interventions.
-Supporting differentiated instruction to meet the diverse literacy needs of all students.
-Assisting in the selection and implementation of literacy curricula and resources.
-Facilitating professional learning communities focused on literacy development.
-Partnering with families and community stakeholders to promote literacy initiatives.

Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field.
-Valid Hawaii Teaching License with a literacy endorsement preferred.
-Experience in literacy instruction and/or coaching at the middle school level.
-Strong understanding of evidence-based literacy strategies and interventions.
-Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
-Ability to analyze and use data to drive instructional decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with instructional coaching and teacher mentoring.
Training in structured literacy and reading intervention programs.
Experience with working with middle level learners.
The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.
