Base Salary: $52,743.54
Base Eligible Salary + Eligible Overtime + Max Certification Pay Eligible : $57,899.30
- Certification Pay Eligible up to $1,200 per year on receiving qualified certifications.

The City of Highland Village is looking for full-time Police and Fire 911 Dispatcher to join our city!

Our Emergency Services Department plays a critical role in this mission by providing prompt and effective emergency response services.
As a 911 Dispatcher for the City of Highland Village, you will be an integral part of our Emergency Services team, responding to emergency calls and dispatching the appropriate resources. Your calm demeanor, excellent communication skills, and ability to multitask under pressure will be essential in providing life-saving assistance to our community members.
We are excited to introduce our new support dog program, which aims to provide support to our dedicated first responders. The program involves a trained dog named Ollie, who will be present in the dispatch center to offer comfort, reduce stress, and enhance the overall well-being of our dispatchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer emergency calls and gather vital information from callers.
- Dispatch appropriate emergency personnel, including police, fire, and medical services.
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in critical situations.
- Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatches, and responses.
- Monitor and coordinate radio communications with field units.
- Collaborate with other dispatchers, emergency personnel, and agencies as needed.
- Support Dog – provide food/water, take him for walks, clean up after him, and most of all, allow him to provide support and love to you.
**Individuals are able to “Opt-Out” of the duty regarding caring for the support dog, Ollie, without providing reasons.
911 Police and Fire Dispatchers must:
- Be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Have 1 year experience that demonstrates computer skills
- Must possess or be able to obtain Telecommunications Operator, CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and 911 Operator certifications.
Character Requirements:
- Be fingerprinted and undergo state, local and national criminal records check,
- Not be on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense.
- Not have been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor or above within the last ten (10) years.
- Not have been convicted of any prior felonies.
- Be of good moral character.
- Be able to pass a thorough, comprehensive background investigation and interview.
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent or have twelve (12) semester hours credit from an accredited college or university.
- Must pass state medical, mental, polygraph and drug testing requirements.
- Not have been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions.
- Have an insurable driving record according to the city’s insurance policy.
- Not have been convicted of more than five (5) moving violations within the past three (3) years.
- Have no prior DWI convictions.
- Not have left employment with any agency under less than honorable conditions.
- Be truthful in responses in their application and personal history statement. Any false statement made by the applicant shall be grounds for immediate rejection or termination if discovered after date of hire.
