For the full position description, please visit our website: Facilities Technician- Inspects, installs, repairs, maintains and adjusts heating and air conditioning systems;
- Maintains, installs and repairs electrical and plumbing systems in City facilities;
- Checks and may make repairs to fire alarm systems;
- Repairs and replaces locks;
- Repairs roofs, replaces floor and ceiling tiles;
- Performs preventive maintenance on City facilities and equipment;
- Maintains interior and exterior walls and surfaces by painting, plastering and/or general repair;
- Ensures proper working condition of doors and windows and replaces or repairs as necessary;
- Prepares, constructs and replaces wood and glass items in City buildings;
- Reads and interprets sketches, diagrams and blueprints;
- Performs carpentry and other construction work in remodeling City facilities;
- Mixes, pours and finishes cement structures;
- Installs and repairs a variety of City equipment;
- Responds to maintenance emergencies;
- Moves furniture;
- Installs computer and telephone cabling;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by an appropriate vocational training program in the building trades or a general maintenance training program.
EXPERIENCE: One year journey level experience in building construction, remodeling or maintenance involving heating, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related building trades.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of or ability to obtain, prior to employment, a valid Class C California driver's license.
