Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as the primary compliance officer for ADA improvements in the City’s right-of-way, both on City and private projects to ensure compliance with ADA standards
- Observes construction of sidewalks, raised crosswalks, curbs and ramps, and traffic signals for compliance with ADA requirements and City and VDOT standards
- Conducts on-site inspections of public improvements to assess physical features for ADA compliance
- Detects potential barriers for individuals with disabilities relating to public improvements
- Creates detailed reports and documents identifying areas with accessibility issues and outlining corrective actions
- Analyzes plans and blueprints to ensure compliance with ADA standards before construction begins
- Provides technical assistance to the public and coworkers
- Completes standard departmental paperwork as required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a associate's degree with coursework in construction trades or related field
- 10 years of experience
- valid driver's license
