Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the planning, design, scheduling and construction of capital projects
- Participates in the long-range master planning, considering and forecasting the City’s needs for new public infrastructure and facilities, major renovations, and maintenance of existing infrastructure and facilities
- Manages VDOT Locally Administered Projects (LAP) to ensure City’s compliance with design standards and policies/procedures regarding federally and state funded transportation projects
- Helps oversee consultants for the City’s capital projects
- Participates in the development of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) by preparing estimates, timelines, and scopes
- Works with various departments to ensure solid communication and coordination during all phases of capital projects
- Monitors projects for performance within budget and schedule
- Reviews pay applications and makes recommendations for payments based on progress
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in construction, engineering or related field preferred
- 6 to 8 years of progressively responsible related experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- valid driver's license
- Virginia Professional Engineering License preferred
- VDOT Locally Administered Projects Courses able to be completed within 6 months of hire
