THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM VETERAN PREFERENCE
Under the administrative direction of the City Manager, is responsible for all personnel and activities of the Fire Department. This position performs in an executive capacity to ensure City welfare and growth is accounted for when developing and implementing departmental goals and objectives. Incumbent plans, organizes, and directs the emergency organizations concerned with preventing loss of life and property by fire, supervising all aspects of the administration of the Department and sub-divisions. Incumbent must be committed to the highest professional standards, demonstrate exceptional character, integrity, fairness, transparency and consistency within the department. Work is performed with considerable independence and latitude in supervising.
