Perform work in a specialized accounting area focusing on grants, leases, and subscription-based IT arrangements (SBITA). Supports grant administration and compliance, with backup responsibilities related to capital assets including both non-routine and routine professional accounting duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).Assists with revenues and expenditures related to grants, leases, SBITAs, and projects, reconciles discrepancies, and assists grant, lease, SBITA, and project managers on accounting issues.
Maintains and verifies financial, statistical, or other fiscal records in connection with various local, regional, state, and federal grants.
Provides guidance on grants, and guides department staff on grant regulations and use of grant funding.
Assists departments in planning, evaluating, and/or administering leases, grants, SBITAs, and projects. Assists with accounting for leases and SBITA in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Creates and assists with grants, leases, SBITAs, projects databases and accounting systems ensuring proper reporting and accounting.
Monitors receipt and usage of revenues to assure compliance with Grant Funding stipulations, activities, and financial compliance of state and federal grants received by the County including sub-recipient awards, if necessary.
Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
3+ years progressively responsible experience in governmental financial accounting or finance, including at least one year of grant accounting.
Bachelor's Degree preferred in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
