Expected Starting Sary: $63,177 - $71,074
Starting Salary Depending on Experience and Qualifications
Under general supervision, provides technical solutions to staff in support of software, hardware, operating systems, and advanced PC applications.
- Provides technical support to staff, including installing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
- Analyzes support processes and procedures and proposes changes to increase support effectiveness.
- Assists with network upgrades.
- Builds, installs, and maintains PC’s and operating systems.
- Creates effective support documentation for IT and end users.
- Maintains and troubleshoots Local and Wireless Area Networks.
- Researches current and new technologies to integrate into current system.
- Researches technology advancements, prices and issues to recommend for purchase.
- Trains end users on IT support elements (policies, procedures, and computer use).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of database driven applications.
- Knowledge of Ethernet networking principles.
- Knowledge of Internet elements including but not limited to www, email, ftp, DNS, TCP/IP, and html.
- Knowledge of telecommunications hardware and principles.
- Knowledge of the principles of electronic mail systems.
- Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.
- Skill in analyzing computer systems to identify problems, developing logical conclusions and effective system or program solutions.
- Skill in hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance of desktop and portable computers.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Skill in working with current Windows desktop and server operating systems.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years’ experience, in a professional, multi-user network environment involving personal computer hardware and software implementation and support.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment.
- Regular and reliable attendance; may work more than forty hours in a workweek without additional compensation to perform assigned job duties, including weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Individual must be judged acceptable based on Arizona Criminal Justice Information System background check and a screening by the Oro Valley Police Department.
