
The Department of Adult & Juvenile Detention (DAJD) is excited to welcome two (2) experienced Human Resource professionals to join our team as Human Resource Analysts! In this dynamic role, you'll serve as a trusted business partner, deliver expert HR consultation, support leave administration, and lead our full Talent Acquisition lifecycle.

Please note: Effective January 1, 2026 the salary range for HR Analyst will be $45.90-$58.19 hourly.
This recruitment will create an eligibility list which may be used to fill future Career Service, Term Limited Temporary or Special Duty Assignment HR Analyst vacancies within the next 12 months.

- Provide guidance to employees, managers, and supervisors on employment law and human resources practices.
- Support complex work and leave programs.
- Create and implement programs that support County-wide initiatives, including equity and social justice, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and employee development.
- Advise and train management and staff on classification, compensation, employment issues, and compliance with union contracts, county code, employment law, and related policies. Recommend improvements to HR practices and processes.
- Lead fair, objective, and compliant recruitment and selection processes. Support workforce planning and partner with hiring managers to meet diverse staffing needs across the department.
- Build strong sourcing strategies, engage passive candidates, use job boards and social media, and develop targeted recruitment campaigns to attract diverse, well-qualified applicant pools.
- Manage applicant screening, testing, and interviews; train interviewers on effective and unbiased practices; and develop job-related selection materials such as recruitment plans, exams, interview questions, and rating criteria.
- Support continuous process improvement by designing and evaluating HR programs, developing metrics, and creating or delivering training as needed.
- Use tools such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, and applicant tracking and background-check systems to maintain documentation, tracking tools, and recruitment workflows.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.
- Five years of increasingly responsible professional human resource experience with a focus on recruiting, leave administration, and/or employee and labor relations.
- Ability to successfully anticipate, identify and interpret potential employment problems and issues and create strategies to divert and/or resolve problems.
- Ability to manage multiple high-volume recruitment selection processes effectively and efficiently.
- Knowledge of leave administration, FMLA laws and regulations, and accommodation process.
- Demonstrated skill at working collaboratively, creating relationships, building trust and rapport with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information quickly and identify trends, patterns, and impacts of data as it relates to workforce planning and development.
- Skill in effective time-management, planning, prioritizing and coordinating multiple projects with critical timelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills which includes the ability to deliver presentations and trainings.
- Intermediate level of proficiency using SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook or an equivalent email program.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in the public sector
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated skill in the use of PeopleSoft or other HRIS system.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of NEOGOV or other electronic applicant tracking system.

WORK LOCATION/SCHEDULE: The DAJD Administrative team operates under a hybrid model, combining remote work with onsite presence. The balance between remote and onsite work will depend on evolving requirements and King County policy and is subject to change accordingly.
The primary onsite work location for this position is the King County Courthouse at 516 3rd Avenue, E 245, Seattle, WA 98104.
Employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of their King County worksite to ensure timely response to workplace reporting and onsite work requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and, when working remotely, must maintain a reliable internet-connected workspace where they can perform duties efficiently and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
This position will work a 40-hour work week and is overtime eligible (provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act). The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
UNION MEMBERSHIP: This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117, Professional, Technical and Administration (P/T/A) bargaining unit.
