Job Description And Duties
Under the direction of the Correctional Administrator - Associate Warden-Business Services, the Fire Chief plans, organizes and directs all fire prevention, fire suppression, fire education and training program activities. Takes command at the scene of a fire and directs the firefighting, rescue, and evacuation operations. Serves as the Deputy Incident Commander of all hazardous material spill/release incidents and interacts with the Hazardous Material Specialist (HMS) to ensure that compliance to institutional, Federal and State environmental regulations are enforced; responsible for providing supervision over employee(s) receiving Incarcerated person Work Supervision Pay (IWSP) and must certify monthly the employee meets the IWSP requirements for payment. Performs the duties of the Health & Safety Officer. Promotes acceptable attitudes and behavior of incarcerated people under supervision and performs other related work.
This is a 12 month Limited Term position that may be extended to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Desirable Qualifications: Possession of a certificate issued by the California State Board of Fire Services as a Certified Fire Officer or the equivalent college course work in Fire Science.
