The City of Surprise is growing rapidly and has the need for a dynamic CIO to lead a highly skilled team. We are on the lookout for a true leader to handle the demand of strategic technology solutions to enable our city departments to exceed their business goals in support of the Council Strategic Plan. As the CIO, this individual will leverage their leadership and knowledge to bring the latest, most innovative technical solutions to the City using secure and effective technology.
Summary
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will provide technology vision and leadership in the strategic planning and implementation of information technology infrastructure and services. The CIO will lead in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support centralized business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations. Incumbents are responsible and accountable for directing a City Department including its personnel, budget, and resources. Responsibilities include: ensuring the security, scalability and reliability of the technology used by the business, making recommendations to the Council and City Manager; developing and implementing policy initiatives; setting the tone, climate and vision for the department; ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and directives; and, providing for a multi-jurisdictional approach.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven years of progressively responsible management experience directly related to the area assigned; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in the job description. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
