Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a
Cashier Supervisor to join our Tax Department. TheCashier Supervisor performs supervisory work in overseeing the daily operations of the cashiering functions and cash handling and deposit processing, and ensures the efficient collection and processing of payments for property taxes and County revenue, fees or services. Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of Tax Specialists and Senior Tax Specialists and providing training to assigned staff.
- Ensuring compliance with all County policies, the North Carolina Machinery Act, and any applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assisting the general public, banks, mortgage companies, social services agencies and other related organizations in obtaining necessary tax information.
- Ensuring that customer interactions meet high standards of service and satisfaction.

The Cashier Supervisor reports directly to the Deputy Tax Collector.High school diploma (or GED) and three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in tax collections work, including supervisory experience;
OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is highly desirable. Education and experience can substitute for one another.
- Valid NC or SC driver license required.
- Working knowledge of the North Carolina Machinery Act is required.
- NCTCA Assistant Tax Collector certification, or the ability to obtain during the probationary period.
- Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of property tax collections is preferred.
Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
