Responsibilities - What you’ll do
This position will be based in the Jefferson City Central Office, working within the DAI Investigations Unit.
Minimum Statewide travel is required.
While in this critical position, you will have the opportunity to utilize your training and experience to forensically extract data from legally seized cellular devices, analyzing said data, and assist investigative staff in the development of actionable intelligence within the facilities and outside law enforcement. The selected candidate will be team oriented, capable of multitasking, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Utilizing advanced technologies, forensic concepts, software, and tools to extract and preserve crucial digital evidence related to MODOC investigations and intelligence efforts. This position shall investigate, data breaches, and security incidents by collecting, analyzing, and preserving digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, and networks. Utilizing digital forensic tools create forensic images to protect original data, produce detailed technical reports, ensuring a strict chain of custody.
This is a professional position tasked with providing mobile service responding to sites for the purpose of preservation of digital evidence and extracting digital data from contraband devices and supporting investigations both internal and externally by working with other law enforcement agencies through our department’s mutual agreement relationships. This position will also work at developing intelligence related to criminal/administrative investigations related to introduction of illegal contraband into MODOC facilities.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate understanding and performance of data extraction and data analysis
- Demonstrate fundamental understanding of departmental and corporate policies, and/or industry best practices surrounding the handling of electronic evidence
- Obtain and retain required forensic certifications and apply forensic extraction techniques and best practices
- Analyze data to establish trends within the facility and potential areas of interest
- Assist facility with investigations by utilizing specialized software provided for forensic data extraction, data mining and link analysis
- Demonstrate fundamental understanding of investigative and intelligence processes to include the intelligence cycle
- Demonstrate fundamental understanding of evidence collection & preservation.
- Submit detailed reports to supervisors’ and facility regarding forensic and intelligence processes and findings
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
One or more years of experience as a Non-Commissioned Investigator with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency OR
Six or more years of experience in civil, administrative, or criminal investigations (non-clerical), digital forensic examiner, criminal intelligence analyst, tax fraud, licensing, environmental, client care, public assistance, insurance, or military; or experience as a law enforcement officer with responsibility of conducting investigations.
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes earned credit hours in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, business administration, social science, environmental science, or related field, may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year – a minimum of two years of experience is required)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Experience as a criminal intelligence analyst and OR mobile digital forensic examiner.
Credit hours in computer science, Cybersecurity, or related field. Certifications such as Cellebrite, Magnet GrayKey or other digital forensic Certified Examiner or Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) is desirable.

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
