*Firefighter/Paramedics work 48-hour shifts with 96 hours off, completing 2–3 shifts per 14-day cycle. Overtime applies after 106 hours per cycle. Overtime is not guaranteed and could vary based on shift timing, staffing needs, and use of leave. Employees in the class work approximately 242.67 overtime hours annually which is 9.33 biweekly average. Hourly rate is calculated annual divided by 2756.
Description:
The City of Highland Village is currently looking for a certified Firefighter Paramedic who will strive to provide the highest level of professional service to our residents. The Fire department’s motto is “Making a Difference” and we do this by protecting the lives and property of our community with state of the art equipment and training. The City of Highland Village is a vibrant, family oriented community in southern Denton County with a population of about 17,000 people.
Duties of a Firefighter Paramedic include responding to medical, fire, and other related emergencies within Highland Village and the surrounding communities, enforcing and complying with department, county, and state requirements, participating in citizen programs, and ensuring records are maintained appropriately.
Job Requirements
Firefighter Paramedic must have:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess a valid Texas Driver's License
- Good Driving Record
- DSHS Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic
- TCFP Commissioned Firefighter
