General Statement of Duties
Forsyth County Animal Services is looking for an energetic, customer-focused individual to join our team as a Front Desk Attendant. As the first point of contact for our department, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming experience for visitors and callers. In this fast-paced environment, you’ll greet the public, answer incoming calls, and provide helpful information about our services, programs, and resources. Other responsibilities include answering telephones, providing general information, and routing calls and messages. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records, reports, and filing systems, and involves both direct and indirect public contact. The role screens and directs clients and visitors and provides a wide range of readily available information to the public. It performs diverse office tasks as a generalist in support of administrative, program, and technical operations. Additional duties include assembling and summarizing information from files or other resources to support report preparation, using various software applications and databases to process payments and establishing and maintaining files and records. The position also manages office calendars, performs data entry, responds to information requests, and carries out related tasks as assigned.
This position is responsible for processing animal intake and outcome documentation for the Animal Shelter and will regularly interact with a variety of animals. The role includes transferring animals to kennels as needed and supporting general shelter operations, such as cleaning and assisting with showing animals to potential adopters, in alignment with the overall mission of Animal Services.
Work schedule is Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Distinguishing Features
Qualified candidates must have general knowledge of office procedures and proper record keeping, and be proficient with computers. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, use a variety of office equipment, provide excellent customer service to our public, and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. The ideal candidate will be comfortable around various types of animals and have a general knowledge of the proper care and treatment of animals, including safe handling procedures. Requires lifting up tp 10 lbs. occasionally or sitting most of the time.
Minimum Education And Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- At least one year of office/clerical experience required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and database systems .
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for minimum qualification requirements.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Creates, updates, and maintains records, both physical and electronic. Scans and e-files daily paperwork.
- Ensures all kennel cards are up to date and color coded with volunteer labels.
- Maintains and stocks all forms and front office supplies.
- Manages cash drawer and makes bank deposits when necessary.
- Assist with the training of and oversees the duties of front office volunteers as needed.
- Cleans and sanitizes front office area following animal shelter protocols.
- Ability to work irregular or extended hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Assist with or handles animals as necessary.
- Performs other tasks or duties as assigned to ensure the successful operation of the shelter.
