Executive Assistant to the City Manager
The City of Savannah serving more than 150,000 residents and supported by over 2,700 dedicated employees is offering an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, executive-focused professional to serve at the highest level of municipal government as Executive Assistant to the City Manager.
This is not an entry-level administrative support position. We are seeking a seasoned executive office professional with a distinguished record of building administrative systems, streamlining workflows, and managing the day-to-day operations of a high-performing executive office.
The Executive Assistant serves as a trusted partner to the City Manager and plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the City Manager’s Office operates with excellence, efficiency, and responsiveness across the organization and the community.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for delivering high-level executive support to the City Manager’s Office. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience designing and implementing administrative systems that enhance executive decision-making, improve workflow, and create seamless organizational processes.
This individual must be ready to step into a fast-paced municipal environment and immediately assess, organize, and strengthen executive office operations. The role offers a unique chance to contribute meaningfully to the City’s strategic priorities and support leadership efforts that shape the future of Savannah.

The Successful Candidate Will Be a Highly Experienced Professional Who Has Effectively Managed Executive-level Workflows And Built Sustainable Administrative Systems In Complex Environments. Candidates Should Demonstrate
- Extensive experience supporting senior executives preferably in government, public administration, or similarly complex organizations
- Proven success in creating and implementing workflow systems and administrative processes
- Strong operational and project management capabilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and high-volume requests with poise and precision
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Executive presence, professionalism, and sound political acumen
- A track record of bringing structure, order, and efficiency to executive office operations

Minimum Qualifications
Requires an Associate or Technical Degree in a business-related field with five years of experience in office administration and/or office management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
