This is a skilled, full-time non-exempt position under the general supervision of the Finance Director. This employee is responsible for property tax administration, business taxes, and responsible for customer service for all tax-paying citizens. He or she will assist with the customer service windows and other duties as assigned.

The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, repeated or a logical assignment to this class.- Collecting payments, which includes property tax, business tax, solicitor permits, and utility payments.
- Run closing reports, prepare bank deposits, scan checks, and tie out drawers setting them up for daily activity.
- Assist other team members with answering the phones, taking payments, answering questions, and other clerical duties.
- Schedule appointments with citizens that are a part of tax relief and tax freeze programs
- Provide coverage for other positions during absences, including, but not limited to cross training for lead tax clerk and utility billing clerk to provide coverage during absences.
- Organizes and file records and other documentation so it is easily accessible.
- Being able to work independently and as part of a team environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTSThis position requires the use of various office equipment including but not limited to a personal computer (word processing, spreadsheet generation); and accounting software; 10-key calculator, telephone, facsimile machine, copy machine, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must also use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed indoors in a comfortable, climate-controlled office environment. The noise level is moderate with a fast-paced, sometimes hectic schedule and frequent visitors from other departments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of cash handling experience required
- Prior bookkeeping/accounting experience a plus
