Step 01- \$26.06/Hour - \$34.34/Hour Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM -
3:00 PM SUMMARY The City of Chicopee\'s Building Department is hiring a
Local Building Inspector who enforces the provisions of the
Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR), the Massachusetts
Architectural Access Board (521 CMR), as well as the City of Chicopee
Ordinances for the safety and protection of the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE: Enforce all the provisions of 780CMR, 521 CMR
and any other state statutes, rules, regulations, city ordinances or
bylaws which empower the building official. Act on any question relative
to the mode or manner of construction and materials to be used in the
construction, reconstruction, alterations, repair, demolition, removal,
installation of equipment and the location, use, occupancy and
maintenance of all buildings and structures, except as otherwise
specifically provided for by statutory requirements or as provided for
in 780CMR. Receive applications and issue permits for the construction,
reconstruction, alteration, repair, demolition, removal or change in use
or occupancy of builds and structures and inspect the premises for which
such permits have been issued and enforce compliance with the provisions
of 780CMR. Issue all necessary notices or orders to ensure compliance
with 780CMR. Inspect and investigate all zoning issues as assigned by
the building commissioner. Assist permit applicants with application
forms and application requirements. Review permit applications and plans
for completeness and Code Compliance. Issue building permits in a timely
manner. Schedule and perform on-site inspections of building projects in
a timely manner. Schedule and perform section 110.7 periodic inspections
of businesses and institutions. Keep up with relevant code changes.
Maintain fair, objective, professional standards in all endeavors
associated with the position. Maintain records and relevant information
in a readily available manner. Provides customer service in person, by
phone, by email, or by other means. Performs similar or related work as
required. Present themselves in a courteous and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS In accordance with the provisions of M G.L. c 143 Section
3 requires all individuals who serve as municipal building code
enforcement officials to be certified in accordance with regulations
promulgated by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards. Apply
