Salary Range: $124,384 to 134,971 (commensurate with experience)
Copley Township is seeking a full time, experienced and community focused law enforcement professional to serve as Chief of Police. Under general supervision of the Board of Trustees, the Chief of Police provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and direction for the Police Department. The Chief of Police is responsible for ensuring public safety, crime prevention, fostering community trust, implementing modern policing practices, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. The Chief of Police is responsible for submitting written and verbal reports to the Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide leadership and direction for department operations, including patrol, investigations, community engagement, and administrative services.
· Develop and manage the department budget and oversee resource allocation.
· Create and implement long-term strategic plans aligned with township goals and community needs
· Promote transparency, ethical conduct, constitutional policing and a culture of professionalism throughout the department.
· Strengthen community partnerships and build collaborative relationships with residents, businesses, schools, and other organizations.
· Serve as primary spokesperson and public information Officer for department
· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
· Lead recruitment, training, professional development, and performance management initiatives. Ability to lead and motivate personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 10 year of law enforcement experience and at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity. Demonstrated experience in leadership, union negotiations, communications and public speaking skills a plus
