Summary
Under the general direction of the Visual Arts Staff, responsible for the installation, and maintenance of Art Gallery exhibitions and general assistance with Visual Arts programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Constructs and installs exhibit structures, artworks, graphic elements, and label text for in-house, traveling and off-site exhibitions.
- Meets production schedules for constructing and installing exhibit components.
- Utilizes preventive conservation techniques in the handling and exhibition of artworks.
- Unpacks and repacks shipped artworks.
- Completes condition reports for gallery artworks.
- Performs on-going maintenance of temporary, permanent, and off-site exhibitions as instructed.
- Maintains a neatly organized work area and storage spaces.
- Assists with Gallery receptions, acts as Gallery attendant and assists with other Visual Arts programs and events as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is not responsible for the supervision of employees.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of media, methods, and materials used in exhibition construction and display.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry techniques, hand tools, and power tools.
- Knowledge of basic paint, adhesives, finishes, and applicable safety practices.
- Knowledge of audio-video equipment.
- Knowledge of accepted museum standards for the care, handling, and exhibition of artifacts and artworks.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Able to contribute creatively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Able to keep and maintain accurate records.
- Able to maintain a safe working environment.
- Pro-active in pursuing and completing tasks
- Available to work evenings and weekends, when needed.
Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate's degree, with focus on fine arts, design, history, museum studies, or construction, or one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; climb a ladder, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with team assistance.
