Description / Position Overview
Municipal Court Administrator
The City of Colorado Springs is seeking an experienced and highly capable executive leader to serve as Municipal Court Administrator. In this role, you will act as the chief administrative officer of the Municipal Court, providing strategic leadership over court operations, organizational planning, and administrative functions while supporting the Presiding Judge in advancing an efficient, accessible, and service-oriented court system.
As the Municipal Court Administrator, you will guide daily court operations, oversee staff and resources, strengthen interagency coordination across the criminal justice system, and ensure court services are delivered with professionalism, accountability, and responsiveness. This position requires a leader who can balance operational excellence with sound judgment, navigate sensitive matters with discretion, and foster collaboration among court personnel, City leadership, elected officials, and justice system partners.
This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.

The Position
As Municipal Court Administrator, you will provide executive leadership for court administration, ensuring effective operations, strategic alignment, and service delivery across the Municipal Court. You will oversee administrative systems, staffing, fiscal planning, and operational priorities while serving as a key liaison among judicial leadership, City departments, and external justice partners.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading administrative operations of the Municipal Court and directing implementation of court-wide goals, policies, and priorities.
- Establishing, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels, and resource allocation to support efficient court operations.
- Supervising managers and professional staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Overseeing budget planning, fiscal stewardship, and operational performance.
- Coordinating with justice system partners, City departments, elected officials, and outside agencies.
- Representing the court in intergovernmental and community discussions.
- Reviewing operational challenges, identifying solutions, and advancing service improvements.
- Supporting court continuity by serving in limited adjudicatory and referee capacities when operationally necessary.
- Responding to sensitive citizen concerns and helping resolve complex issues with professionalism and sound judgment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, criminal justice, business administration, or a related field.
- Five years of full-time, professional experience in municipal courts, county or district courts, prosecutorial or public defense agencies, clerk of court operations, law enforcement administration, or legal administration.
- Two years of administrator and/or supervisory experience.
