Emergency Management Coordinator III's serve as senior professionals responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive emergency management programs and coordinating large-scale preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Researching, developing, analyzing, and maintaining complex emergency and disaster plans, policies, and procedures.
- Leading the planning, design, coordination, and execution of emergency exercises, drills, training programs, and recovery initiatives.
- Coordinating emergency response operations from the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and field command locations during incidents and disasters.
- Recommending and coordinating the deployment of personnel, equipment, supplies, and resources during emergency operations.
- Organizing and leading disaster recovery efforts and facilitating Recovery Operational Area Coordination Meetings.
- Developing reports, operational briefings, correspondence, and emergency preparedness materials for stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Advising County departments, schools, businesses, community organizations, and partner agencies on emergency preparedness and resilience strategies.
- Coordinating emergency communications systems and emergency response resources.
- Training emergency services personnel and strengthening operational readiness across multiple agencies.
- Supervising and leading Emergency Management staff, project teams, and workgroups.
- Serving as a rotating Duty Officer responsible for monitoring and coordinating Countywide emergency response activities.
- Supporting field operations, damage assessments, and disaster recovery efforts following emergency incidents.
Qualifications Needed:
Option I
- Master's degree in Homeland Security or Emergency Management; and
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in emergency management, emergency response, disaster recovery, or disaster preparedness.
Option II
- Bachelor's degree; and
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in emergency management, emergency response, disaster recovery, or disaster preparedness.
Option III
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in emergency management, emergency response, disaster recovery, or disaster preparedness.
