Position:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Rockdale Chamber of Commerce
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and is
responsible for advancing the Chamber's mission of strengthening local businesses, supporting economic vitality,
promoting tourism, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the Rockdale community.
The Executive Director provides strategic, ethical, and collaborative leadership while building trust among
business leaders, community stakeholders, elected officials, residents, visitors, and partner organizations.
This individual serves as the primary advocate for the business community and works to ensure that
Rockdale's businesses, workforce, and residents are prepared to benefit from emerging economic
opportunities while preserving the values and character that make Rockdale unique. He/she is responsible for
strategic planning, interpretation of policy, the development of the Chamber’s annual goals, organization structure,
marketing, budget and finances, volunteer development and membership growth, the employment, development
and supervision of staff and the maintenance of the Chamber’s headquarters.
The successful candidate will be a relationship builder, community convener, servant leader, and trusted
ambassador who can unite diverse interests around a shared vision for the future of Rockdale.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
v Serve as the primary public representative and ambassador for the Chamber.
v Maintain a visible presence in the community through regular engagement with businesses,
organizations, events, and community initiatives.
v Foster trust, transparency, and collaboration throughout the community.
v Provide Exceptional Customer Service.
v Create and implement a marketing plan to highlight the efforts and work of the chamber though-out the
year.
Membership Relations, Development & Retention –
Ensures success of programs to recruit and retain new and existing members of the Chamber and is responsible for
maintaining the membership at a level needed to ensure the income needed to support annual goals. Provides
leadership in the area of membership services to ensure there is a compelling value proposition for current and
prospective members. Works effectively with executives of companies and organizations of all types and sizes
across the broad range of Chamber members throughout the Chamber’s market area. Ensures the
effectiveness of current group benefit programs. With others, analyzes and interprets the needs of members and
recommends revisions to increase membership value, engagement and financial support.
Budget & Finances –
Develops annual budgets in conjunction with priorities determined by the Board of Directors. Manages revenues and
expenses in accordance with established budget and ensures the preparation of accurate and timely financial
statements, annual budget and timely audits. Maintains full accountability of generally excepted accounting
practices and record keeping. Pursue sponsorships, partnerships, grants fundraising opportunities and other
revenue sources that strengthen the chambers sustainability.
Board Relations –
Builds and maintains strong relationships and communications with the Chair of the Board, Executive Committee
and Board of Directors for both the Chamber. Provides leadership necessary to garner maximum engagement of
Board members and stakeholders In conjunction with the Board Chair, plans and organizes Executive Committee
and Board meetings. Assist with recruitment, development and orientation of current and future board of
directors. Foster a culture of engagement and leadership development.
Organization Structure & Procedures –
Continuously evaluates the Chamber’s organization structure, policies and procedures to ensure their effectiveness in
identifying and addressing Chamber and community needs and issues. Recommends changes in structure,
procedures and policies as needed.
Advocacy & Public Policy –
Collaborates with the Board and the Chamber’s public affairs committee to identify and manage the Chamber’s
relationships with and advocacy efforts before local, state and federal government bodies to achieve desired
outcomes. Leverages and maximizes the Chamber’s influence through relationships with government officials,
delivering testimony and building coalitions among those with similar views. Develops and communicates
legislative and public affairs positions, as approved by the Board of Directors. Serves as the chief spokesperson
on policy matters for the Chamber. Champions workforce development.
Marketing and Public Relations–
Candidate should have a strong working knowledge of the use of Media. Both traditional and social media outlets. To
have the ability to communicate the chambers message to past current and future members. This includes the
ability to develop, create and execute multiple messages across all media platforms. The ability to build strong
working relationships with local, regional, and Statewide media outlets.
Program & Services Development –
Provides staff and committees with the tools, guidance and resources needed to develop new, creative, value-added
programs, benefits and services for the membership. Reviews and evaluates program and benefit proposals to help ensure
their effectiveness. Build strong and productive relationships with local business owners, community leaders,
elected officials, educators, civic organizations, residents, regional partners, and prospective investors.
Strategic & Operational Planning –
Develops and implements a strategic, long-range plan and annual goals to advance the Chamber mission. Works with
committees to identify issues and needs and develops plans to address them. Evaluates effectiveness and
measures progress towards attainment.
Other Duties as Assigned –
Performs various other assignments as directed by the Board of Directors, Board Chair and other appropriate
members that are congruent with the Chamber’s mission and bylaws.
Position Requirements:
The Executive Director must possess:
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong technology skills,
Microsoft Suite experience required,
Knowledge of Quickbooks Accounting Software
General knowledge and use of Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and Wix preferred
Financial management and analytical abilities
Strong and the ability to motivate volunteers and staff. public administration, marketing or related field. Previous
chamber of commerce experience is preferred.
To successfully perform the responsibilities of this position, the Executive Director must :
Possess a valid driver’s license
Must be available for regular early morning and occasional evening meetings
Must be available to work occasional weekends
Must be able to devote the occasional additional hours required to ensure the timely completion of all responsibilities
related to this position
Must be available for occasional overnight travel,
Must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
