The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey is proud to represent the federal law enforcement interests of the people of New Jersey and the country. The office is responsible for the prosecution of federal criminal statutes for all of New Jersey, from acts of terrorism to public corruption, white-collar crime, organized crime and gang activities, internet-related crimes, drug importation through New Jersey ports, and many other criminal acts.
Duties

This Public Affairs Specialist is responsible for designing and conduction the public, media, and information programs for the USAO, which is the largest and most complex and case-intensive office in the United States, located in one of the largest regions and media markets in the country.
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Public Affairs Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of New Jersey, located in Newark, New Jersey, focusing in the areas of communications, media, and video production.
Typical Work Assignments Will Include
- Developing and maintaining collaborative communications with local law enforcement agencies, such as the Police Department, as well as federal law enforcement agencies
- Working with the USAO community to develop and implement engagement communication strategies provide advice and recommendations to the U.S. Attorney and the Front Office.
- Representing the district at numerous community meetings and events, including those that occur during the evenings;
- Consulting with law enforcement, community, and community's public safety, quality of life needs, and address those needs through interactions with the district's litigation sections and other government agencies.
- Providing responses to numerous community concerns both in-person and in writing.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
To Qualify At The GS-14 Level, You Must Possess
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the
GS-13 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) ALL of the duties listed below:
- Coordinating or implementing communication strategies to carry out public affairs activities and to promote programs, products, and/or services of an organization;
- Writing, editing or preparing communication materials (news releases, fact sheets, brochures, blogs, web pages, etc.) related to crime, law enforcement actions, legislation, trials, court decisions, developments in the financial market, scientific research, or technology;
- Interacting with the public and news media on behalf of an organization;
- Maintaining effective communication with management, public, media or government officials.
