Purpose
The Graffiti Officer enforces code ordinances of the City of Savannah dependent upon assigned ordinances.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs routine code compliance activities: Investigate complaints and enforce regulatory codes and ordinances as mandated.
- Conduct on-site inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with city or state ordinances.
- Patrols designated areas of the city to identify code violations.
- Issues correction notices, cease and desist orders, or citations for violations.
- Conducts research to identify property owners.
- Attends neighborhood association meetings to make presentations related to code enforcement activities.
- Maintains complete and accurate records.
- Leads special projects, inspections, and investigations such as surveillance and monitoring of potential violations.
- Promotes community partnerships to identify and solve health problems.
- Assists in planning and preparedness activities as required.
- Respond to public health emergencies as needed.
- Performs administrative duties: Maintain accurate documentation on appropriate forms and tracking of violations, inspections, and code enforcement activities.
- Responds to customer inquiries.
- Assists with research on special properties as directed.
- Paint over graffiti using appropriate paints; match and mix paints; determine the appropriate paint/color, materials, equipment, and supplies needed to complete the job.
- Remove graffiti from City, Private, Public and Commercial properties using a variety of specialized equipment and chemicals /solvents.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED, and one (1) year of code enforcement or field investigative experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

Minimum Standards:
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Department Manager assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include city procurement procedures, budget procedures, and reporting requirements. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied administrative duties. The need to coordinate activities with multiple groups and individuals contributes to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to coordinate assigned programs.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, members of the general public, educators, elected and appointed officials, and members of community organizations.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, and resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office or outdoors. The employee may be exposed to occasional cold or inclement weather.
