What will I do in this position if hired?
In this position, you will support the development of emergency management standards, regulations, practices, training and procedures to identify, minimize or eliminate hazards and threats. Typical assignments include:
- Collaborating with Recovery Divisions, Field Operations, Emergency Management Institute, and Regional partners to develop, maintain, and deliver Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) trainings.
- Preparing research, data gathering, and problem solving in support of major projects and training development.
- Developing comprehensive training plans and development of training courses.
- Coordinating classroom, virtual, and just-in-time training to a wide range of FEMA and non-FEMA audiences.
- Leading and facilitating cross-component working groups to develop policies, training, or guidance that can be implemented on a national scale.
- Supporting development of guidance and training for PDA tools and technology to include, but not limited to mobile applications, databases, and damage impact calculators.

Qualifications
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met
within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:
- Coordinating, conducting, or overseeing disaster damage assessments; AND
- Developing and delivering a range of training.
To qualify for this position at the GS-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:
- Coordinating, conducting, or overseeing disaster damage assessments; AND
- Developing and delivering a range of training; AND
- Serving as a liaison between local and state partners involved in damage assessments.
