Individuals in this classification operate the wastewater collection and treatment systems on an assigned shift; monitor wastewater processes via electronic and computer controls and meters; determine flow into and within plant; take samples, perform basic lab tests and makeadjustments as necessary; take readings and make operational checks on equipment and controls; maintains equipment; keeps records and reports and perform preventative and corrective maintenance; lubricates equipment, cleans and paints facilities; operate and maintain large and small equipment such as: backhoe, dump truck, sewer cleaning truck, pumps, motors, and various other hand and power tools; check and log meter readings; enter data into manual and computerized data systems and other duties related to a wastewater treatment plant.
