Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is part of a career series for Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I, II and III. Installs, repairs and maintains electrical fixtures and equipment, plumbing fixtures and systems, ventilating, heating and air conditioning units and systems, elevators, steam equipment, and a variety of machinery and other equipment; performs masonry and concrete work, and does rough and finish carpentry for both corrective repairs and preventive maintenance.
This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County.

This individual will join an organization of over 290 public works professionals who provide the full range of services across the County of San Luis Obispo.
All candidates must have a minimum of one to five years experience in building maintenance including experience in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical. One to five years experience in one of the construction trades may be substituted for building maintenance experience. This person will join an established crew of maintenance mechanics who maintain approximately 250 facilities throughout the County.
Education and Experience
A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:
Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I: One year of experience in building or mechanical maintenance or construction work.
Facilities Maintenance Mechanic II: Three years of experience in semi-skilled to skilled maintenance or construction work in a variety of building trades.
Facilities Maintenance Mechanic III: Five years of experience in skilled general maintenance or construction work involving several building trades.
