SUMMARYProvides office assistance to Road Department, including answering the telephone, performing filing tasks, processing purchase orders, preparing correspondence, and maintaining employee time records; enters data on the computer, including updating budget data when instructed by Road Director of Operations; schedules meetings for Road Director of Operations; processes mail; and maintains inventory of parts and posts to proper work orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Answers telephone for Road Department
- Performs filing tasks for all sections of the Road Department.
- Processes all purchase orders, including matching with invoices and turning in for payment.
- Types correspondence as needed for Director of Operations.
- Completes and submits employee records and attendance report to Treasurer’s Office.
- Obtains price quotes on materials, and requests purchase orders.
- Enters data on computer.
- Updates budget data on the computer as instructed by Director of Operations.
- Receives and helps resolve complaint calls from citizens of Midland County.
- Greets the public and/or salesmen and directs them to the appropriate area or person.
- Schedules meetings for Road Director of Operations
- Keeps inventory of and posts parts to the proper work orders.
- Writes parts requisitions as needed.
- Posts mileage and fuel for vehicle reports.
- Files vehicle maintenance repair orders.
- Reports any vehicle maintenance needs Director of Operations
- Regular and timely attendance is required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This is a non-supervisory position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school graduation or its equivalent, plus at least one year of experience; in required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE OFStandard office practices and procedures; and computers.
SKILL/ABILITY TOOperate computers, including word processing and spreadsheet software; read manuals, journals, and office memos; write reports, letters, memos, and telephone messages; perform basic mathematical calculations; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
