The Community Relations Coordinator for Raleigh Water will play a crucial role in fostering strong relationships between the City and its residents. This position will be responsible for overseeing various community relations initiatives, including education, outreach, and volunteerism. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in community engagement, a passion for educating students, residents and colleagues, and a deep understanding of the local community.
Community Engagement: - Develop and implement comprehensive community engagement strategies to enhance communication and collaboration between the City, merger communities, and residents
- Coordinate community outreach programs, events, and initiatives to promote Raleigh Water’s initiatives and foster a sense of belonging
- Serve as a liaison between Raleigh Water and community organizations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
- Identify and address community concerns and needs, working closely with relevant departments to develop solutions
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support Raleigh Water’s community relations initiatives
Public Relations: - Manage Raleigh Water’s social media presence and online reputation
- Post informative materials to the City of Raleigh website concerning local water related current events
Community Relations:- Receive, investigate and coordinate responses to citizen concerns, inquiries and complaints
- Serve as designated ADA coordinator and compliance resource
- Work with residents, community leaders, neighborhood associations and representatives to provide education and facilitate utilization of City-provided community services and resources
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for project or program support, pair volunteers with project duties based on skills, abilities and interests, and provide training and supervision of volunteer activities
- Manage plant and control activities including herbicide application in support of invasive plant management program
- Coordinate environmental education and outreach events and volunteer activities
- Perform site visits on occasion and monitoring City-owned land conservation projects
- Implement water shortage response plan based on drought stage status
Education and Experience:Associate’s degree in a related field and two years of neighborhood outreach, citizen participation or community development experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or community development
Licensing and Certifications: - Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. This position requires travel to offsite community engagement events

ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
