JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, teaches individuals and/or groups of various sizes in year round gymnastics program. Assists with physical skill work with students as appropriate. Does related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Effectively teaches groups and/or individuals in gymnastics program. Assists with physical skill work with students as appropriate. Communicates courteously and effectively with other city employees, officials, patrons and students. Enforces policies, procedures, and safety rules for the gymnastics program and its participants. Supervises large groups of participants both visually and audibly to ensure health/safety standards are implemented and maintained.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
May be required to carry, push, pull, drag and/or hold up to 30 pounds of furniture or equipment. Perform minor maintenance chores.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Must have the ability to teach and communicate effectively using whatever skills necessary, physical or otherwise. Knowledge preferred of current gymnastics skills, teaching and spotting techniques. Must present evidence of experience and background/references in gymnastics/ cheerleading and or child care. Recent experience as either a gymnast/cheerleader or child care worker recommended. Must be able to demonstrate required ability/skill. Must be able to assist with physical skill work with students as appropriate.
