Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all maintenance operation for City equipment; responsible for evaluating shop needs including repairs , tools, equipment work space, safety regulations, and personnel training. Oversee, monitor, and supervise all shop floor operations and be responsible for personnel discipline including evaluations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.- Responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the maintenance operations of both heavy equipment and light equipment.
- Oversee, monitor, and supervise all floor operations and be responsible for personnel discipline, including evaluations.
- Responsible for arranging all preventive maintenance schedules at recommended intervals and as determined by engine oil analysis.
- Responsible for scheduling safety meetings and orienting all personnel on safety rules and regulations.
- Responsible for the implementation of scheduling systems, repair cost estimates, and vehicle use and condition analysis for all City vehicles.
- Responsible for all employees training.
- Responsible for setting up in-house repair operations. This includes setting up operations to do transmission repairs, hydraulic hose repairs, tire repairs, replacements, and welding repairs for all Fleet equipment.
- Compile department vendor lists and update product availability.
- Be able to create flat rate costs for all work being performed on the shop floor.
- Assist in the perpetual inventory of all vehicles and major automotive parts throughout the year.
- Responsible for writing specifications for all vehicles needed.
- Must assist the Fleet Manager in formulating the department budget and monitoring its use throughout the year.
- Review and make recommendations for vehicle maintenance budgeting for City departments.
- Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors and other business contacts.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use
- Performs pther duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Associate's degree or 60 college hours from an accredited* college/university.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in fleet operations, maintenance software, business, mechanical/computer systems, or related field, of which (1) one year would have been in a supervisory capacity.

Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
