Position Summary:
The Residential Manager is responsible for overall management of assigned unit(s) in the Juvenile Intervention Center (i.e., unit life, programming, volunteers, activities, etc.) Oversees and directs shift supervisors, staff and youth conduct, safety, programming, and crisis intervention services. Oversee new employee onboarding, residential and program staff training, shift scheduling, employee performance and payroll. Provides general direction and oversight in the preparation of reports completed by staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall management of the day-to-day operations of the assigned units in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Reviews and processes youth paperwork to ensure accuracy.
- Reviews all significant incident reports (daily) to identify violations, coordinates and directs appropriate staff response that maintains youth accountability.
- Ensures accuracy in performance and quality of services provided to youth and families in Franklin County Detention Center.
- Conducts routine rounds of staff and youth to ensure daily operations are functioning at an optimal level. Provides verbal and/or written accounts of findings from routine rounds. Performs regular inspections and internal facility audits.
- Generates data reports monthly, annually and on an ad hoc basis as needed.
- Provides general direction and oversight in the preparation of reports completed by staff (e.g., Programming, Crisis Intervention)
- Conducts training of new hires and ongoing in-service training of responsible areas staff.
- Ensures policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable standards and are being followed through observation, direct supervision, and presence in the unit.
- Reviews all discipline issued to youth to ensure compliance with Behavior Management Program.
- Conducts reviews and/ or investigations of all incidents involving the use of confinement, youth behavior, use of force, property damage, suicide attempts, attempted or actual escapes, and other emergencies. ·
- Assumes responsibility for coordination of the unit team during fire, severe weather, and other emergencies. Schedules and holds departmental meetings with unit staff and conducts timely performance evaluations of staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS Degree in the Social Sciences, Law Enforcement or relevant field or any equivalent experience which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform successfully in the position.
Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience.
Two years’ experience of direct supervision with juveniles and young adults in (probation, detention, social service or a rehabilitation field or facility) required.
Demonstrate ability to manage both people and processes effectively and efficiently.
