Job Summary
The Loudoun County Department of General Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Public Works Technician position in the Public Works Division. The successful candidate will perform general Public Works construction and maintenance; stormwater system inspections and maintenance; sign manufacturing and installation; maintenance and repair of onsite sewer and water systems; and operation and maintenance of machinery, heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with training and/or coursework related to position, supplemented by some specialized training in landscaping/grounds maintenance and Public Works infrastructure; one (1) year of experience in Public Works maintenance, landscaping or grounds maintenance, heavy equipment operation, turf management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. A Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred for this position. The ability to hold or obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator certificate is preferred.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Must possess the ability to lift 70 lbs. Must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. This position is considered essential personnel.
The successful candidate will undergo criminal and DMV background record checks. A pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required for CDL holders. The successful candidate holding a CDL must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
