The Village of Cary is seeking a highly motivated employee to join our team as the Capital Projects Manager. The Capital Projects Manager’s duties include managing engineering and construction functions such as plan reviews, document preparation and review, field observations, construction inspections, consultant management, project management, and carrying out public relations activities related to the Village’s engineering projects. Other duties include participating and/or leading complex and technical initiatives in support of the Village’s strategic goals, and providing responsive, courteous and efficient service to the Village residents and the public.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Complete capital projects assigned to the Public Works & Engineering Department.
- Conduct studies and prepare reports concerning the infrastructure of the Village.
- Prepare and manage all aspects of the bid process, review submittals, pay requests, and change orders.
- Assist in the preparation, application, management, and administration of grants.
- Supervise construction support services including on-site inspection, project coordination, negotiation of change orders, and material source review.
- Maintain regular contact with consulting engineers, construction project engineers, Village, Township, County, State and Federal agencies.
- Prepare and submit agenda items, departmental resolutions and ordinances for Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole meetings; occasional attendance at evening meetings is required.
- Participate in planning of major capital improvement projects.
- Ability to manage and track multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of the Villages Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget, including annual roadway maintenance.
- Update, maintain, and incorporate the Village’s GIS technologies into capital projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
The candidate should have at least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in construction, project management of capital projects, public works operations, civil or environmental engineering, or a related field. The candidate should hold an associate's degree or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Construction Management, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field. While not required, additional certifications and licensures that would be beneficial to this position include but are not limited to the Project Management Professional (PMP), Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer-in-training (EIT), or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
The salary range for this position is $95,408 to $138,341.
