PAY AND BENEFITS
Annual Pay Range: $42,911.47 - $53,767.31
Hourly Pay Range: $22.005880 - $27.572979
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) is seeking an Accounting Specialist 1 to join our team! The Accounting Specialist 1 is responsible for preparing and processing accounts payable, cash receipting, and select interagency invoices. As part of the NCPRD finance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance while providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Your work will be integral to the smooth operation of our community-focused organization, making you a valued member of our team.
In this role, you will handle various accounting tasks essential to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth operations. You will review vouchers, invoices, cash receipts, purchase orders, and other source documents, verifying their accuracy, proper authorization, and adequate documentation. Resolving discrepancies and preparing corrective entries will ensure budgeted funds are available to cover payables. Maintaining accounting records will be a critical part of your duties, which include entering approved journal entries, balancing accounts, and verifying cash receipts and deposit summaries. Additionally, you will provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries from departments and vendors, offering accurate information, or referring requests to the appropriate contacts. With a focus on organization, you will compile routine summaries, process financial documents, and maintain well-organized accounting files to support the team's overall efficiency.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• At least one (1) year of related accounts payable experience that included coding, preparing, and processing invoices for payment
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of basic financial recordkeeping methods and practices
• Ability to deliver excellent customer service and communicate positively in all interactions
• Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• Knowledge of public sector accounting practices with working experience in Accounting and Finance in a governmental setting
• Experience working within a government organization
• Demonstrated experience using large enterprise software packages (ERP), such as PeopleSoft , Oracle, SAP, or similar accounting platforms effectively

TYPICAL TASKS
Duties may include but are not limited:
• Reviews vouchers, invoices, cash receipts, purchase orders, interfunds and other source documents for accuracy, proper authorizations, adequate documentation and appropriate account numbers; identifies and resolves discrepancies and prepares corrective entries; ensures budgeted funds are available to cover payables.
• Establishes and maintains accounting records; prepares and enters approved journal entries, assigning debits and credits to appropriate accounts in general ledgers; reviews and verifies cash receipts and deposit summaries; balances accounts.
• Maintains routine accounting and general files; groups documents for processing; sorts documents in alphabetical and numerical order; compiles information and prepares routine, recurring summaries and reports reflecting account status.
• Provides internal and external customer service; responds to a variety of department and vendor requests for information relative to assigned function; provides information or services as authorized or refers to appropriate individual for response.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position is included in the County's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) is a service district of Clackamas County dedicated to providing exceptional parks and recreation programs, facilities and services. Voters approved the formation of the District in 1990 because they saw the need for greater parks and recreation services in the north end of the county. The District - which serves more than 105,000 residents in a 27-square mile area - includes the city of Milwaukie and a large area of unincorporated Clackamas County.
NCPRD offers 32 parks, many acres of natural areas and sensitive habitat, and a network of trails including the 6-mile Trolley Trail. Additionally, NCPRD offers a wide range of programs, services and events, and operates several recreational facilities such as the North Clackamas Aquatic Park, Milwaukie Center and the Concord Property.
