TRADESPERSON - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Tradesperson is under the general supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader. The Tradesperson is minimally knowledgeable and performs semi-skilled maintenance work on City streets and drainage systems. The Tradesperson shall be capable of performing basic tasks with supervision.

EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

Perform maintenance and repair work on City concrete and asphalt streets on a regularly scheduled basis.
Tamp, pack, shovel and level concrete/asphalt, or other materials.
Load and unload materials and equipment.
Operate heavy equipment used in street maintenance and related activities. (i.e. Roller, Dump Truck, Backhoe, Front-End loader, Skid Steer, Jackhammer, Drills, Hand Tools).

TECHNICIAN - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Streets Technician is under the general supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader. The Technician is moderately knowledgeable and performs semi-skilled maintenance work on City streets and drainage systems. The Streets Technician shall be capable of performing basic tasks without supervision.

Perform maintenance and repair work on City concrete and asphalt streets on a regularly scheduled basis.
Tamp, pack, shovel and level concrete/asphalt, or other materials.
Load and unload materials and equipment.

The Senior Technician is under the general supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader. The Senior Technician is knowledgeable and performs skilled maintenance work on City streets and drainage systems. The Senior Technician shall be capable of supervising and directing the work of others in the absence of the crew leader.

Maintains a high standard of safety, conduct, and job performance.
Perform maintenance and repair work on City concrete and asphalt streets on a regularly scheduled basis.
Tamp, pack, shovel and level concrete/asphalt, or other materials.
Load and unload materials and equipment.
Operate heavy equipment used in street maintenance and related activities. (i.e. Roller, Dump Truck, Backhoe, Front-End loader, Skid Steer, Jackhammer, Drills, Hand Tools).

The physical requirements of this position

Very heavy work. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position

The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
