Position Overview: The City of Neenah is seeking an individual whose passion is to provide a safe and inviting community by providing general code enforcement functions and administering and enforcing municipal codes. The majority of work involved performing enforcement tasks in gaining compliance with a variety of quality-of-life ordinances including property inspections, order issuance and compliance checks. This position works independently with little supervision.

Our Mission:The City of Neenah Police Department’s mission is to address property maintenance and quality of life issues to improve the safety and standard of living in the City of Neenah. Code Enforcement works with citizens, residents, and property owners to address complaints and work towards compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Secures code compliance through education and enforcement which may include citation preparation, citation issuance and legal testimony.
Perform education and enforcement tasks in gaining compliance with a variety of property maintenance and quality of life ordinances in the City of Neenah including, but not limited to, long grass, sidewalk snow removal, brush, garbage, vision clearance, banners and signs, junk and debris, junk or unlicensed vehicles, improper parking of vehicles and trailers, etc.
Initiates warning letters, citations, or civil actions on violations.
Prepares reports and maintains records to be submitted to state and local authorities for all programs.
Meets with homeowners, landlords, and tenants to discuss concerns with code issues found and correction notices issued by the Code Enforcement Inspector as a result of inspection activity.
Meets with and communicates with other city officials, including members of the Department of Public Works, the Department of Community Development, the City Attorney, and elected officials to discuss certain violations and to formulate an enforcement plan.
Assists the Department of Community Development and the City Attorney's office with issuing of citations and delivery of paperwork as needed for their cases.
Implement and utilize the techniques and processes as provided by City staff to identify violations, to communicate with offending parties, and to gain compliance.
Assist the police department with miscellaneous duties as needed, such as traffic direction, community service, administrative duties, etc.

Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree; or 60 college credits or High School diploma with 2 years’ previous code/ordinance enforcement law enforcement experience
Experience: 3 years customer relations
Other: Valid Wisconsin driver license, or the ability to obtain a within 3 months.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $45,006.00 to 53,800.50, depending on experience.
- Salary range reflects base to midpoint of the pay scale. Offers above midpoint require Council approval.
