Chesterfield Fire and EMS is seeking an Emergency Management Planner that is willing to work in one of the most progressive and professional Fire and EMS departments in Virginia. We are seeking an individual that has the enthusiasm, fit, and ability to assist the Emergency Management Division in growing the county’s emergency management program.
The qualified individual will work on a team of professionals that works in coordination with all levels of government and the residents of Chesterfield to ensure our community is well prepared for various emergency events. This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
Let’s Be Real:
This is a fast paced, dynamic atmosphere where the term “boring” does not exist. This position manages multiple projects at one time, and the ideal candidate needs to be comfortable with reprioritizing tasks to meet the needs of the division, department, and county. This position regularly interfaces with all levels of government, as well as residents, and community partners and must communicate with those groups in ways that resonate with their communication style and level of emergency management knowledge. Creativity, flexibility, and critical thinking are essential daily tasks.
Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; includes evenings, weekends, and holidays; hours outside normal county business hours required as necessary for public outreach, resource coordination, and during emergency situations/disasters. This position qualifies for contingent remote work.
