Job Description
Collin County is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the position of Animal Control Officer. This position provides field animal control for unincorporated Collin County and contract cities by responding to animal control calls, investigating violations and enforcing state law. Additional duties include performing all required animal shelter duties, preparing and maintaining reports, maintaining vehicles and all related equipment and performing related duties as assigned. Work is performed under the direction of the Animal Control Supervisor.
Candidates must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, and/or office processes. Minimum requirements include the ability to care for animals (including large dogs, exotic pets, and livestock), a level of education equivalent to four years of high school, and the ability to obtain Basic ACO Certification and EU Technician Certification within three (3) months of employment. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. Six months working in an animal shelter or other animal care facility preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
