Introduction
Neighborhood Services is looking for an individual that is self-motivated with exemplary customer service skills
to bring to our team. Willingness and ability to educate residents about Zoning Ordinances and property codes is a must. The candidate should also have a working knowledge of using various computer products such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook. This individual will use County resources including but not limited to: Court Land Information Systems, GIS mapping databases, real estate assessments, and parcel history files when conducting research for public inquires. Organizational skills and accurate data entry are a basic requirement and critical to this position as the employee often serves as the liaison between citizens, code inspectors, and other County employees. General clerical duties are also performed daily to ensure timely responses to public inquiries. An incumbent in this position will have the opportunity to mentor and train other Code Enforcement Technicians within the department. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of a Chief Property Code Enforcement Inspector.
About This Role
The Code Enforcement Technician communicates directly with citizens and other stakeholders for inquiries made to our department requesting general information or specific complaints of code violations occurring in the County. The Code Enforcement Technician will receive training and certifications relating to zoning and building maintenance codes and enforcement. The Code Enforcement Technician is provided membership in trade organizations for zoning and building code officials during employment. A cellphone is provided for County use. There is the ability to telework after training period and with supervisor approval.
- Assists in processing requests for services to include, but not limited to, complaints, freedom of information requests, referrals to other agencies and serving as a liaison between inspector and customer.
- Performs general office duties such as case retrieval and filing, processing requests for archived files, and compiling case files.
- Conducts research including Geographic Information System land-based, zoning classification, real estate assessments and parcel history.
- Enters data daily into land information systems and other databases; coordinates the correction of database errors with other departments.
- Assists with group report initiatives, as required.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or G.E.D.
1 – 2 years of work-related experience with customer service.
Preferences
Preference for 2+ years of customer service experience.
Preference for work-related experience in the field of zoning, building code, property maintenance, code or covenant enforcement.
Preference for fluency in both English and a second language.
Preference for proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Work Schedule
Typical business hours schedule. Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
This is a telework eligible role that also requires in-office scheduling to meet business needs.
Starting Salary Range: B21 / Starting Salary $21.14 - $32.17
