East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is currently seeking a high level, technical and subject matter expert in the wastewater field to join the Wastewater Department. The position has technical responsibility for directing and providing technical support for wastewater treatment and processes, planning to meet future regulations, managing the asset management program for the Wastewater Treatment Division, and leading the technology and software support group for the Wastewater Department. Successful candidates will be able to apply broad based operational knowledge of wastewater system technology and develop and implement programs to monitor and improve wastewater operations and maintenance. This position will report directly to the Director of Wastewater.The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of the regulations governing wastewater treatment and discharge and extensive wastewater treatment process experience, including liquids stream treatment and solids treatment, knowledge of various software technology solutions for wastewater treatment processes, and asset management. This knowledge and experience must include a strong understanding of the underlying chemical and biological processes. This candidate will demonstrate proficiency in analyzing and evaluating complex wastewater treatment and environmental regulations; coordinating multi-disciplinary resources to address technical and regulatory issues; and evaluating alternatives to reach sound conclusions. This candidate will have strong communication skills, including the ability to make clear, concise and effective written, graphic and oral presentations of complex or controversial information. In addition to having a breadth and depth of technical knowledge and experience, the ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate and collaborate within a team environment. It is critical for this position to establish and maintain effective working relationships through open, honest communication, and to maintain a positive, collaborative approach with both internal and external stakeholders. The annual salary is $186,816 up to $283,344. Initial placement within the range is based upon qualifications. A civil engineering license in the state of California.Must have the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job; willingness to work outside of regular work hours as needed, and possession of a valid California driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
