The purpose of this position is to further an individual’s understanding and experience with operational, field, and administrative functions of the Parks & Recreation Department. The internship is geared to meet the needs of each intern individually while also providing a broad overview of the field of parks and recreation.
WORK ACTIVITIES:Examples of duties the intern could include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist management with special work projects from conception through implementation.
- Conduct in-depth research studies and/or surveys specific to municipal government programs and services.
- Assist in the preparation of statistical analysis and report findings or research studies to supervisor or department head.
- Assist with the development of written and oral presentations.
- Attend meetings, and participate in programed events, field, operations, and administrative tasks.
- Rotate from one business unit to another as assigned by the Director.
- May drive own or Town-owned vehicle to pick up or deliver needed materials.
- Performs other tasks as directed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 24 hours of completed coursework at an accredited college or university, and current enrollment in a Parks, Recreation, Sports, Event Management, or similar degree program at an accredited college or university. * Current transcript must be attached to the application. Application will be marked incomplete if a current transcript is not attached.
- Must have a valid driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
- No prior relevant work experience is required.
Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification
